The Intel Arc B570 comes close to the flagship of the previous generation A770
The new Intel Arc B570 "Battlemage" is one of the cheapest graphics cards on the market that allows 1080p gaming at maximum details. However, the first reviews only recommend the card to a limited extent.
In December, Intel launched its second generation of graphics cards with the Arc B580. The B570 is now its little sister. In certain tests, the entry-level card even beats the flagship of the previous generation, the A770, and is only slightly slower than an RTX 4060.
Gaming: The B570 beats the former flagship A770
Computerbase comes to the conclusion that the B570 offers around 18 per cent less FPS in 1080p resolution than its big sister, the Arc B580. In rasteriser titles, it therefore comes close to the former flagship A770. In ray tracing titles, however, it falls behind by around ten per cent. Reviewers Jan-Frederik Timm and Wolfgang Andermahr emphasise that the performance of the B570 could be better if it had 12 GB of VRAM instead of just 10 GB.
Better results are achieved by Techpowerup. Here, the B570 beats the A770, the flagship of the previous generation. The RTX 4060 from Nvidia is just ahead of the B570 and the Radeon RX 7600 from AMD is just behind. Like Computerbase, reviewer W1zzard performed the benchmarks in 1080p resolution.
A different approach is taken by Tespot. Reviewer Steven Walton tests in 1440p resolution. Across all 13 games in his test suite, the B570 performs similarly well to the RTX 4060 and RX 7600. With an average of 70 frames per second (FPS), the B570 is one FPS behind the Nvidia card and one FPS ahead of the AMD card.
Power consumption: Gap to Nvidia and AMD narrowed
The B570 draws around 230 watts when tested in 1440p resolution by Techpowerup. That's 20 watts more than the RTX 4060, for example, but the card is not particularly power-hungry in its class by comparison.
In the 1080p tests conducted by Techpowerup, the B570 requires an average of 155 watts - 30 watts less than its big sister, the B580. This makes the card more efficient and on a par with the current models from AMD and Nvidia. In idle mode and other applications, however, the Intel GPU requires too much power. Computerbase comes to similar results
Price: moderate value for money
The reviewers of all tests agree on the price: the value for money is currently not right. The B570 is too close to the B580, which is therefore more attractive. Nevertheless, the B570 is preferable to the Radeon RX 7600. The reviewers are not sure whether this is also the case with the RTX 4060. The Nvidia card offers the better upscaling feature thanks to DLSS, but it costs more.
