I can't say certified. However, the memory must be reformatted because it comes with NTFS format. Unfortunately, the iMac can only read this format. After reformatting, the memory works perfectly.

No. The RAM is soldered to the logic board in all of these models. Here you can see the logic board --> http://i.stack.imgur.com/pV4LX.jpg (yellow is the memory 16x 512 MB DDR3 SDRAM therefore 8 GB total in that case). Sorry m8.
