Digitec store St. Gallen ready to relocate in March 2025
by Tobias Billeter
Is our list of Black Friday offers actually leaked? Yes, it is. To the delight of many users. How could this happen?
Many digitec and Galaxus users were amazed when a list of all the special offers went viral a few days before Black Friday. The list also appeared in the WhatsApp groups of many employees. A huge document with prices, discounts and internal comments. The customers were delighted, but not so much the digitec employees involved. What happened?
The colleagues responsible for Black Friday and Cyber Monday entered their offers in a joint document. They were busy commenting and editing. The list was confidential and only intended for internal purposes. However, someone apparently shared it with their private circle. From there, it spread like wildfire. It even appeared on Twitter.
Is it the right list?
Yes, but not the latest version. The same applies to the Cyber Monday offers that were also leaked. Nevertheless, many users were given an unusually deep insight into our work. For the product managers and sourcers who put a lot of sweat and energy into the campaign days, this is naturally less pleasing.
How will we prevent such leaks in future?
We have a corporate culture based on trust and transparency. We have not yet decided how we will react. But we will certainly consider whether we will work with other tools and/or restrictions next year.

Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
