X-Man in focus: new trailer for "Deadpool & Wolverine"

In the new trailer for "Deadpool & Wolverine", Marvel shows the side of Wolverine. The atmosphere is more melancholy than in the first trailer with Deadpool at the centre. But there is all the more escapism.

Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) bullies X-Man Logan (Hugh Jackman). He apparently abandoned his own universe before it was wiped out. Logan obviously takes this hard, while Wade doesn't let up in his attempts to lure him out of his shell. Much remains unanswered in the second trailer for "Deadpool & Wolverine". For example, how the two become a fighting duo.

At best, Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin) could have something to do with it. She can be seen in the second half of the trailer. She is known as a villain with telepathic powers whose thoughts can kill. She also has a complicated past with Professor X - also known as Charles Xavier. This makes Wolverine and Deadpool the perfect common enemy.

Marvel needs Deadpool to save the universe

The basic setting seems a little clearer together with the first trailer: Deadpool is supposed to save the world as the new superhero instead of cracking jokes below the belt. And Wolverine obviously has a lot to make up for.

The whole thing even has something to do with reality: Marvel is in desperate need of a sense of achievement. Our colleague Luca would also agree with this. Marvel's 2023 films "The Marvels" and "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" were failures at the box office. Only "Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3" from the same year achieved good box office results with USD 845 million.

Deadpool is keeping pace with the successful Marvel films. The first two parts together grossed over 1.5 billion US dollars.

With the third instalment, Deadpool could literally save the Marvel universe. Other X-Men films also play in the top league. Together with Wolverine, Marvel has the saviour duo par excellence ready for the big screen.

A little more swearing at Disney

The fact that Disney owns the rights to Marvel Studios leaks out in the trailer. Wade Wilson asks himself, among other things: "Am I allowed to talk about cocaine use in a Disney film?" and Deadpool's typical swearing raises question marks. In the USA, a film in which the word "fuck" appears more than once is only allowed to be released from the age of 17. This contrasts with Disney's usual film rating of 13 and up. 17 and up in the USA means FSK 16 in Germany. If you watched the trailer, there's a lot more than one fuck in the 2.5 minutes alone. So Disney is leaving its otherwise very child-friendly approach out of Deadpool 3.

Anything but Disney-like, the new trailer features a bloody battle between the yellow and red duo and Cassandra Nova. Including Logan's sharp trademark: the extendable claws. Let's fucking go!

"Deadpool & Wolverine" will be released by Marvel in cinemas here in Germany on 24 July 2024.
