Valve starts shipping Steam Deck: The new PC handhelds available since yesterday. Those who pre-ordered one of the devices in time for July 2021, received an email last Friday to complete the purchase and order. The Steam Deck should then be delivered in the coming days. Customers who were only able to complete the pre-order a little later are further back in the queue - and may have to wait a little longer until they, too, receive the email for the purchase process.
When do more emails trickle in?
"It has come to our attention that there are questions regarding the 1st quarter reservation group (ends March 31) and when people in that group will receive their emails," the company writes. According to the statement, all customers who are in the first quarter window will receive their order prompt email by the end of March. The next batch of emails will go out on Monday, March 7. It's possible that notifications will arrive again around 7 p.m., so keep an eye on your inbox.
And what about the second quarter?
The emails will be sent to pre-orderers of the first quarter every week until the end of March. The decisive factor is the order in which the reservations were received. "In April, we start equivalent with those in the queue for the 2nd quarter," adds Valve. Those who currently pre-order a Steam Deck will have to wait a bit longer: "We are working according to our production schedules and will soon have news for those pre-ordering periods after Q2," Valve adds.
