Sony's new Walkman sounds like quality sound

The new musical companion from Sony focusses on improved sound quality. The Walkman NW-A306 is at the forefront of Sony's Signature series and has staying power.
The Walkman, which is based on Android 12, uses algorithms to improve sound quality - even with streamed music. It plays your favourite songs for up to 36 hours. The Sony Walkman NW-A306 brings a number of improvements compared to its predecessor.

Bound in aluminium and endurance
The device itself weighs just over 100 grams, is around 12 millimetres thick and has a 3.6-inch touch display. You can also control the Walkman with tactile buttons. The battery life is said to be up to 36 hours - if you listen to music via Wi-Fi, it should still be around 26 hours. You should allow around 3.5 hours for a full charge. The available storage capacity of 18 gigabytes can be expanded via microSD.

Sound quality optimised by algorithm
Sony has included some technologies for a better music experience
Sony's own digital amplifier technology, the so-called S-Master HX, is designed to improve sound quality. This is achieved by reducing distortion and noise in audio signals through digital processing. This makes the sound richer and fuller. Support for high-resolution audio also has a positive effect on quality.
Sony's Digital Sound Enhancement Engine, which is based on artificial intelligence, also ensures that lossy compressed music data is scaled up. During scaling, acoustic subtleties that were lost during compression are restored. This technology has been further developed since the previous models.
Payable piece of music quality
Sony's Walkman series ranges in price from 200 francs/euro for the NW-A100 to 3000 francs/euro for the NW-WM1ZM2. The new NW-A306 falls in between at 400 francs/euro and will be available in black and blue from February 2023. <p
