Good news, friends: Futurama makes its comeback in 2023

The iconic Planet Express gang hasn't had its day yet: Futurama is set to make a comeback. The eighth season is scheduled to start next year on Hulu.
Futurama lives! This is reported by the industry magazine The Verge. According to the report, a 20-episode eighth season has been ordered and will premiere on Hulu "sometime in 2023." Hulu, Disney's streaming service for adult and less family-friendly content, is thus taking over Futurama from Comedy Central, where the seven previous seasons premiered.

The following addition from the Hollywood Reporter should also be encouraging. The reports that series creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen are back, as are original voice actors Billy West (Fry), Katey Sagal (Leela), Tress MacNeille (Mom), Maurice LaMarche (Kif), Lauren Tom (Amy), Phil LaMarr (Hermes) and David Herman (Scruffy). John DiMaggio, who portrayed Bender, is still in talks about whether he will return.
The second comeback
This is not the first time Futurama has made a comeback. Originally, it ended after just four seasons, which were released between 1999 and 2003. In 2008, the first revival occurred when four Futurama movies were broken up into individual episodes and launched as Season 5. In 2010 and 2012, Futurama returned to the original series format with Seasons 6 and 7, only to be shelved again like Fry once did. Partly because fans judged the humor of the new seasons to be about as serviceable as a sober Bender.
Until now.
So Craig Erwich, Hulu's president of originals, speaking to Variety, described the revival of Futurama as part of a larger project. He said the company wants to establish itself as a new platform for adult animated films and series. In this country, the series is likely to be launched on Disney+ under the "Star" label. There, where the previously released episodes Futurama are already available today, despite different numbering of the episodes and seasons.
However, it is not known whether the release is also planned for 2023.
