Encanto music breaks records: not even "Let it Go" managed to do that

A song from "Encanto" recently climbed to the top spot on the U.S. charts. No Disney song has managed that in 29 years. Now the soundtrack is breaking even more records.
Everyone is talking about Bruno. Of all things. After all, the song "We Don't Talk About Bruno" has been dominating the charts for weeks. The song from Disney's latest animated film "Encanto" even managed to do a week ago what not even "Let it Go" from "Frozen" ever managed:
Number 1 in the US charts.
Record. Because the last time a Disney song conquered the first place in the US charts was 29 years ago. Back then, it was the song "A Whole New World" from "Aladdin," which was able to defend first place for an impressive 23 weeks in 1993.
But the success story of the music from "Encanto" doesn't end there.
"Bruno" - even more successful than "Let it Go."
No one saw "Bruno's" success coming. Not even Disney. For this year's Academy Awards on March 27, 2022, it was namely not "We Don't Talk About Bruno" that was submitted, but the ballad "Dos Oroguitas" sung by Sebastián Yatra, which tells the tragic back story of the Madrigal family.
"Did I expect 'Bruno' to be so successful? No!" Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote all the songs, told Jimmy Kimmel recently on "The Tonight Show," "because usually it's the ballads, or the fun songs, that get a lot of attention, not the ensemble pieces."
Meanwhile, no "Encanto" song need complain about a lack of attention. In fact, Billboard Charts reports that as of today, all eight songs from the film are in the Top 100. Even such iconic Disney soundtracks as "The Lion King" or "Frozen" have not managed that.
No wonder, the album to the film may also defend the first place in the American album charts for the third time in the last four weeks. This only now, although the film already came in November 2021 in the cinema and despite pandemic respectable 237 million dollars worldwide has taken in. My conclusion at the time:
«Es ist die Musik, die in Encanto verzaubert.»
The reason that nevertheless only months later all the world is talking about Bruno at once is probably the recent release of the film on the streaming service Disney+. This made the animated film accessible to over 118 million subscribers. Since then, it's not just the film that's gaining popularity, but especially the modern-inspired soundtrack.

I'm an outdoorsy guy and enjoy sports that push me to the limit – now that’s what I call comfort zone! But I'm also about curling up in an armchair with books about ugly intrigue and sinister kingkillers. Being an avid cinema-goer, I’ve been known to rave about film scores for hours on end. I’ve always wanted to say: «I am Groot.»
