I would like to connect this CD player to my SONOS Connect, as I did with the Sony PS-HX500 record player. To do this, I'm sure I must have a CD player with a preamp or preamplifier for this to work. Does this device have a preamplifier?

Hello Ax31_11, thank you for your detailed answer! I am not the technical hero. If Toslink just means that I can connect the player to the back of the Sonos Connect with a red and white RCA cable, then I agree. The Sonos Connect has that. I just don't know if there is enough power from the player to achieve sufficient sound quality through the Sonos speakers. As already written, I have a Sony record player, which works. Unfortunately, an older record player did not work. That's why I thought I needed a preamplifier or an amplifier....

Hello Cuniglio. No, the CD5005 does not have a variable audio output, only fixed. Unless you were to use the headphone jack, which would be adjustable. I don't think this would be optimal from a sound point of view. I'm not an expert on Sonos, but isn't it true that the Sonos Connect has high-level inputs? You could simply connect the device via Toslink, for example, and then control the volume via Sonos Connect. Or am I seeing this wrong? If you're really looking for a Marantz CD player with a preamp, you could also look at the ND8006, but then the DAC and network player might be an over-kill in your case. Hope this helps.
