Is this the right choice for a lenovo legion 7?
That should work. The ThinkPad Workstation Dock Gen 2 supplies 230 W as required by the Legion 7. It uses a split cable with power connector and USB-C connector. Compare the 6 of 8 pictures at Digitec for the ThinkPad Workstation Dock Gen 2. Therefore, the two connections should be as close to each other as possible on the Legion 7. The two cable ends click together with a magnet. Ideally, the connections on the Legion 7 should be exactly as far apart as the clicked ends. I have a ThinkPad P53, where this fits exactly. The cable routing is separate, so the power connector and USB-C connector could also be on different sides of the Legion 7, which would then be a little less elegant.
The USB-C port has worked with all the devices we have used so far (ThinkPad P53, T570, T490s, HP EliteBook840 G6, Apple MacBook Pro 13). If a device requires more than 65 W, the standard power supply for that device must also be used.
