It depends on what kind of seller you have. I bought 2 monitors yesterday and asked if HDMI cables were included. He said no and sold me 2 HDMI cables. Unpacked the monitor at home and what did I find: 1 HDMI cable. So don't let the salesman make a false statement. You definitely don't have to buy one.
