Question about Astro Gaming A50

I would like to use my Astro a50 with my Ps5 in the future. However, since the Astro adapter does not allow 120 FPS, I wonder if there is a way to use my Astro on the Ps5 anyway?

As a postscript - there are better adapters than the Astro that transmit the signal better (less quality loss), but these are all max 4k60Hz throughout as HDMI 2.1 is still very young. Source: Reddit

If a TV with optical out is available, you can easily connect the headset there.
This way, the sound from the PS5 goes via HMDI to the TV and from there via optical to the headset base station.
For the chat sound, simply connect the micro USB cable from the base station to the PS5 as before.

Hello..
I bought an Astro A50 headset. Now I have everything connected to my PS5, but the microphone does not respond... I myself can hear easily but not my colleagues in the game itself... how can I solve this problem?

Try the SoundblasterX G6 and use Beyerdynamic. Had an Astro A50 1 Gen or 2 Gen, the last one before the base station. Now a Beyerdynamic 1990 with the G6 and COD via the adapter is a dream. You can't use the microphone on the G6, but with the modmic wireless it works. For 3D audio, just take out the Toslink and connect the g6 via USB to the ps5 and you'll have the choice of 5.1 for old games and 3d audio for new ones. Should theoretically also work with the Astro.

I have the Delock adapter with 4k60hz and well, have now ordered the one from Astro. Sound is great, only a restart of the adapter after each change of the source on the reciver is not possible for me.

Hey, I've been using the Astro since I got the PS5 without any adapters and only via USB. I still find the quality to be excellent and have no problems with it. The only drawback is that you can't adjust the speech to ingame audio directly on the headset, but directly in the audio setting of the PS5 quick menu. My recommendation is to do without any adapters and do it this way.

Greetings and have fun

I can tell you from experience - save the money. The headset is geared to the optical signal, with the adapter this is "digitised" and that doesn't work at all well. I have the better sound only via USB connection (but better does not mean good).

In addition, as you have already noticed, the adapter does not provide enough power. Astro explains that HDMI 2.1 (4k120Hz) would be too expensive for the adapter, which is also the case with this loss of quality.

I think we have no choice but to wait for a new Astro headset that is no longer built via optical.

Check Reddit - Astro topics
Mann talks about a 40% loss of quality and that they had hoped for more from the Astro quality. The adapter is pure money-making.

In addition, Sony has probably made a grab in the bowl with their 3D sound and without the support of the common audio formats. At least with regard to existing games that have not yet been really optimised, e.g. Warzone... even with the new Pulse 3D headset, you're sitting on a tin can that serves as a sound source...

If Digitec agrees, I can also send you the adapter for testing purposes.
