I have heard that if you install the Samsung driver for the SSD instead of the Microsoft driver, the SSD is much faster... Where can I download it?

The NVMe driver from Microsoft installed by default in the Surface Pro 4 does not fully utilise the potential of the built-in SSD from Samsung. Especially in write operations, the model falls behind older SSDs with SATA interface. According to Samsung, the reason for the relatively low performance when randomly writing to flash cells is that the Microsoft driver does not use the SSD's cache. Instead, data is written directly to the flash cells via the FUA (Force Unit Access) command, which of course has the advantage that no data is lost in the event of a sudden power loss.

An improvement in performance can be achieved through a driver update. Officially, Samsung has only released the NVMe driver for the NVMe SSD 950 PRO model. However, it also works with the OEM model MZFLV256 installed in the Surface Pro 4, which is also called PM951.
