Question about Google Chromecast Ultra EU Version

i have a VPN on my iphone, is the Goggle Chromecast simply mirroring my iphone or is it using it's own internet connection?

It depends, you can mirror the screen but if you try to mirror an supported application then it might start the application on the chromecast and it will use its own internet connection (thats what happens on my android phone) . But you could try to share the VPN cpnnecrion with the chromecast via hotspot from your iphone. I hope this helps.
