Question about Ubiquiti UniFi Cloud Key

Hello, I have a USG and 2 AP AC-Pro in operation. As a controller I use the software from Unifi on a Windows PC. I don't have a cloud key yet because I don't understand what it is needed for - everything I expect works at the moment. Now I want to set up a second site (connected via the public internet). The main goal is to get access to a few Shelly controllers at the second site, which I want to configure remotely with API commands. My (amateurish) idea is that a USG is also used at the second location for this purpose and the two USGs then span a VPN across both locations. I imagine that at least initially I should be able to access the USG at the second location remotely with a controller. What do I need to do this? - Can I do this without a cloud key from my existing Win PC (i.e. after the initial configuration of the USG and the VPN, of course)? Or do I need a PC locally at the second location (with controller software from UniFi), which can be controlled via remote software, for example. - Or do I now need one or even two UniFi Cloud Keys?

PS give the switch and the key one static IP each, do not leave on DHCP

Hello Wschuetz.
The software is quite good. However, if you are building such a network, I would highly recommend the Cloud Key. For the following reason: If your PC breaks down and you no longer have access to your controller, all your settings are gone. If you install the controller (e.g. on a new PC, it is empty), the Cloud Key also serves as security and it is always running and always accessible, which is important for your project.
As you have already said, you also need a USG at the 2nd location and only a Cloud Key at the 1st location. You can integrate the USG at the 2nd location into your cloud key with the set-inform command. I recommend a dynDNS or a fixed IP at location 1.
Then the USG at the 2nd location will report itself again in the key as soon as it is online. (You see it in the controller and can manage it as if it were at the same location) Then you create the site-to-site VPN and Voila. (For VPN with USG search in You Tube for iDomix, it's top).
I hope it works, have fun
