Does this product encrypt my data?
Samsung Electronics GmbH
Hello,
Thank you for your enquiry.
The built-in security features of the Samsung Portable SSD T7 Touch use AES 256-bit encryption and allow you to unlock the SSD using your fingerprint or password.
If the security mode is not desired, you can simply deactivate it with the driver software. However, the password and fingerprints are then deleted. The stored data, however, will remain.
In our help video, we explain how you can easily manage a password or fingerprints on your PC with the T7 Touch's own management software. To do this, go to the Samsung homepage and enter the model MU-PC500K/WW in the search window. Now confirm the product again to get to the page of the model itself. On the product page, scroll down until you see the video.
You will also find all the information you need to change the security mode in the operating instructions on page 11.
You can access the operating instructions by entering the model code in the search bar on our manufacturer's page and downloading the operating instructions under the link "User manual and downloads" in the lower section of the product data sheet.
Kind regards from Schwalbach
Your Samsung Service Team
I cannot answer that. I only need this SSD for backups.
No... it only blocks USB access - if the internal hard disk is removed, the data is freely accessible.
