Does the mouse only run with the USB plug, or can I also connect it directly to the laptop?

Unfortunately, the mouse can only be used on a computer via USB receiver.

Alternatively, you could use the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S (Wireless). This mouse would be Bluetooth compatible and also comes with a USB receiver for computers without Bluetooth.
