Does it also run under winXP ? or with XP and win10 simultaneously without formatting.

I have not tried it under Windows XP. But I use the disk as a NAS backup and for the operating systems Windows 7 and Windows 10; everything works great so far.
Windows XP supports NTFS, so I see no reason why it shouldn't work. What would certainly be important is to find a USB 3 driver for Win XP.

I can't say whether My Passport 4000 also runs under XP, but I have it running under Win 7 and now Win 10, and it runs great there.

A one-time formatting may be necessary because the newer file formats are no longer supported by Windows XP. Connect the HD to the XP PC and see what happens. If the PC does not recognise it, simply format it to FAT 32 and it should work.
