Can you confirm that to type a backslash character on this laptop, you actually need to press Fn + AltGr + L ? (This is a beautiful laptop, but this is a dreadful design decision by HP. )
Thank you, you saved my day! And I agree with you ... 3 years later still.
I appreciate this question is quite old now but I have recently bought the HP Envy X360 15 and I agree with the original poster. The keyboard layout is most annoying thing for me. What I have did was installed PowerToys and use the keyboard remap feature. I set \ to be alt+z which is way easier to use. I also remapped some others (such as #) but the backslash was the most annoying.
@UncleMike987 I can confirm that you need to press Fn + AltGr + L in order to type a backslash (and yes it is on a QWERTZ CH keyboard)
This computer should be configured with a QWERTZ CH keyboard therefore the shortcut should be : ALT GR + The backslash key (found on the same key as the "smaller than" and "bigger than" symbols).
Maybe you configured it in another layout ?
