Can the cam be used without the mydlink app? I recently bought a D-Link DCS-8000LH which can ONLY be used with the mydlink app. (useless for me) Want "full" IP cam which does NOT download everything to external server and can be used without app.
Hardly, D-Link wants to completely discontinue support for browsers in the future, and already with this model the local support is a disgrace, officially only Internet Explorer and Safari are supported, other browsers work conditionally or not at all. If you want to configure the motion detection in the browser you need Java (I don't know if it works, I haven't tested it).
Local retrieval of an rtsp stream outside the browser is also not possible, there is only an MJPEG stream via http, if you only need this locally it is ok, for use over the internet you would want h.264 (MJPEG compresses badly and therefore needs a lot of bandwidth), but according to D-Link support h.264 is only available in the browser (and in the mobile app).
By the way, the product is "Phase Out", which is D-Link's friendly euphemism for End of Life.
I would buy something else with the requirement, but cannot recommend a product due to lack of experience.
PS. Looks similar to this https://www.youtube.com/watch
Yes. Thank goodness. Have also been looking for a camera that you can use with browsers, as I don't understand all the fashion on "everything with smartphones"....
No. And I can't recommend this webcam either. It took about 2 hours until the configuration via the app finally worked properly...
