1)What is the second smaller card for? Is one not enough? 2)What makes more sense when I'm gaming with Sennheiser headphones? This sound card or a Sennheiser GSX 1000 amplifier? Or even both?

Question 1: This is a so-called daughter card, which is only responsible for audio input, e.g. from a mixing console.
Question 2: I have used both, once the sound card and once the GSX 1200. I liked the card much more, it is the professional solution. I only switched to the GSX 1200 because I don't have any more space in my current cabinet for the sound card. It also works great, but all parameters are pre-set, so no equaliser, etc. In addition, I have to say that at least for me, the GSX often crashes, sometimes 10 times in a row. I don't know what the reason is, but I'll have to call in the warranty. Google didn't spit out anything about similar cases.
Greetings Toby

To question 2: You can connect headphones directly. The best way is to connect them to the Audio Control Module.
