The quality of individual parts and their interaction are crucial for the sound of each component. Therefore, Yamaha exclusively uses high-quality components that are carefully selected and tested. The A-S501 guarantees excellent signal reproduction even under demanding conditions - the power transformer and bypass capacitors are custom-made, the speaker relays have a direct signal path, and it features single-point grounding as well as extruded aluminum heat sinks.

The A-S501 features a new analog loudness control located on the front panel. It uses electronic volume control for the highest sound quality, allowing the loudness effect to be adjusted as desired. Separate from the normal volume control, this allows for influencing the balance between highs and lows. As a result, the complete tonal range is available, compensating for the natural hearing loss of high and low frequencies at low volumes.
