ZTE MC801A HyperBox
This is a brilliant product! I use Digital Republic flat 300, and a week ago I got Tp-link archer mr 600. And it was a disaster. I was very disappointed, thought it was because of my SIM card reception. But then I ordered ZTE 5g router, and WOOOOHOOOO! I am just thrilled. Very stable reception throughout my flat (3 rooms). Internet speed almost maximum, about 270 mb/s from max 300.
All in all: PERFECT ROUTER, saved me.

I have a significantly higher internet speed (at the same location) with this router than with my 5G mobile (IPhone 12).

The ZTE 5G router is a good alternative to cable for people who want a fast, reliable Internet connection. It is compatible with the 5G networks of the operator Wingo (Swisscom).
I connected it to the network using a second sim card with the 5G extension.

runs perfectly with the currently cheapest mobile provider, thanks Galaxus

This 5G router completely exceeds my expectations I would not have expected an arrow fast router in the 5G network.
Very high range even through several walls.
Has all the latest standards. I think it has so many connections and possibilities with features.
Simply an absolutely great router, I am surprised.
Highly recommended to buy.

Top price - performance! There's nothing more to say here!

We compared the device directly with a neighbour. We tested both devices with the same SIM, in the same place and on the same evening. The ZTE device transmitted 10 times less power over Wi-Fi than the Asus device in the same price segment and with almost the same specifications. For this reason, we reported a defect. However, the device was sent back to us with the explanation that there was no defect. Conclusion: compared to other routers with SIM 5G, the device is simply bad, so bad that you'd think it was broken.

Exactly what I was looking for. Installation and connection are simple and the system works like any other modem/router. No need to sign up for an Internet subscription with a provider. All you need is a second SIM card and a good mobile subscription.

Works great for me, I live on a farm outside town but still get good speed with a cheap Digitec data sim subscription 👍

Certain settings that one would have to make for Wingo (Swisscom) are neither automatically recognised - nor can they be set manually. So this network cannot be used. Sunrise, on the other hand, worked. So I had to send the device back.

Works well, we get around 300Mbit, with 3/5 bars of reception.
Limited to max. 30 devices (via Wifi). DHCP server can distribute more IP, we use other access points.
What can I say... little config but what is needed can be set.

It's a great little router, the signal in the apartment is quite weak, so a Huawei E3372 USB stick had issues getting past 10-20Mbps on 4G in the most optimal positions. With the same SIM card this unit crosses 100+Mbps on 4G and can spike over that to 200+ on 5G (Although signal is weak and it keeps jumping between 4 and 5G).
The 2 RJ45 ports are good to connect 2 devices, but I would've liked a couple more. Still, `iperf` shows that the full 1 Gbps can be achieved between the devices over LAN, so way above what my signal would allow anyway. At 250 it's also quite affordable in this category. The only gripe would be that the UI is a bit pedestrian and there aren't that many settings you can choose from; would've liked the option to change DNS for example and IP binding seems to get stuck at times having had to restart both router and system a few times to get the IP to bind to the MAC address.

Easy to configure and update within 20 minutes (software update takes about 10 minutes and is included in the 20 minutes ;))
No long-term test to date but the neighbour is satisfied

I haven't had such bad internet for a long time, I don't know what the problem is, but it's constantly lagging and bogging, so I wonder what you're even paying for. Pure cheek!

Well, the device works. However, I only need it to transfer data from a solar system to the web. As it's a Chinese product, I wouldn't use it to send sensitive data...

I'm really impressed with this router.
It has replaced my fibre optic subscription - at a third of the previous cost.
Connected via Ethernet, I get just under 1Gbps on the PC and 300Mbps via Wi-Fi, which was a pleasant surprise.
It has to be said that I have a 5G mobile phone mast within sight and live in a village with few inhabitants.
My Internet plan is from Wingo.

It worked straight away. Since I have been using this device, I no longer have any interruptions
I'm already using the TP-Link Deco X50-5G Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Router AX3000 and wanted to save a bit this time. I therefore decided to test the ZTE MC801A 5G router, which is around CHF 50 cheaper, as an alternative solution.
Unfortunately, this purchase turned out to be a bad decision. Either my device was defective or the firmware version of the router is generally unstable. Connection problems occurred right from the start: Regular failures, high latencies (sometimes over 1000 ms) and about every third ping to 8.8.8.8 remained unanswered. Reliable operation was therefore not possible.
Unfortunately, a firmware update did not help and turned out to be very special. When clicking on "Check update" (or something like that), only an hourglass appeared, without any information on the current or new version. A further click indicated that an update was already being installed in the background - in other words, a new version was installed immediately without any further enquiry (and without any progress indicator) when clicking on "Check". In my 35 years in IT, I have never seen an update process like this. And the new firmware version brought no improvement.
It is possible that my device was actually technically defective, but due to the dodgy interface I sent the router back, but had to accept a 10% restocking fee. Amazon is much more accommodating in such cases - Galaxus still has room for improvement here.
In the end, I returned to the tried and tested TP-Link Deco X50-5G, which is a little more expensive but works reliably and is user-friendly to operate, even if the configuration is done exclusively via an app (no web interface). I now have two TP-Links running, one as a fallback solution at home for fibre optic Internet and one as 5G Internet in a holiday home.

I recommend it and this is my second
