The main advantages are already mentioned in the other posts.
I replaced my perfect (!) 35-year-old Technics CD player with the CD S303. Conclusion: the highs and mids are somewhat more detailed with the S303, the lows slightly weaker. The unit is driven by an Onkyo TX NR 747 with Magnat speakers and a Yamaha woofer. Coupled with a fibre optic cable. Stereo operation, as well as 6 channel stereo, is very detailed and clear. Nevertheless, the sound is not sterile. The somewhat weaker bass could easily be compensated by putting more weight on the woofer. The "Pure Direct" function makes the sound even slightly softer.
It can (almost) only play CDs, no other sounds like streaming or the like. And that's a good thing: keep it simple.
By the way: yes, it also reads other formats via USB interface: I tested it with MP3: Sound good, tags are read, fits.
