Does not play protected Blue-Ray discs
Please note that the player does not play protected blue-ray discs, i.e. the majority of movie DVDs you can buy in the shops. It is problematic that this is not specified in the product description.

Recognised as PIONEER BDR-US03 perfectly suitable for MakeMKV
The Verbatim Slimline External Blu-ray Drive, model number 43890, impressed me in every respect. Compatibility with MakeMKV was particularly important to me, and this is where this drive scores highly. It was recognised as a PIONEER BDR-US03 and the fact that LibeDrive is enabled in MakeMKV makes ripping Blu-ray discs a breeze.

Does the job, just that there is no Blue-ray PLAY software...
Has a second USB connector for extra power (old USB port). Works great with a plug on a 2017 HP pavilion.
Please note that I am not judging the product on its burning qualities, I have not tested it yet.

Can only be used with existing CD drive
In order to install the software and presumably also the correct driver, one must have an already functioning CD drive. With current notebooks and convertibles, however, you miss such a drive. That's why I bought this drive separately. Currently, the drive is not displayed correctly with Windows 11 and I have not yet found a driver for the drive. Either it's because of my HP convertible or because of the drive. But I still have to find out.
