Great device but a little noisy
Very happy with this purchase. The fries are different from traditional fries in an oil bath but they are very good, crispy outside and soft inside, top. The quantity of oil used is really impressive (very low).
I also made spring rolls. When I made them in an oil bath fryer it was a disaster, they exploded. Here they cooked very well, they came out whole and were very good and much less greasy.
In my oil bath fryer, I only made French fries so as not to dirty the oil with other foods that might explode. With this hot air fryer, I will enjoy the healthy variety of frying because it uses much less oil.Pro

Actifry is the absolute best air fryer on the market
This is our 2nd Actifry. The first one broke last year after 10 years of excellent cooking (the motor for the rotating arm died) . This time we wanted the bigger Actifry XL. It is significantly bigger than the standard one and now I can make chips for the whole family in one batch.
The potatoes are indeed crispy outside, perfectly cooked inside, and evenly cooked. They are not soaked with oil as with deep-fryers and have much more flavour than potatoes cooked in oil.
I appreciate that I can dump the potatoes in the machine, turn it on and walk away to finish cooking the rest of the meal - no stopping the fryer to shake or stir.
The window on the top is really large and gives a good view of the food inside, so no need to open and disturb the cooking.
It will be interesting to see how long the rotating arm lasts because this one on the XL Actifry is not made of metal, but perhaps it is not as heavy so the motor will last longer.
There are lots of different programs to use for a wide variety of foods, even cake!
We tried another air fryer from Philips and stopped using it very soon because the food is so unevenly cooked - the only way to prevent this is to open the machine every few minutes to shake the basket, which disrupts the steam/heat atmosphere = longer cooking and less good results. Actifry is by far the best air fryer on the market...time will tell how long the basket and (cheaper-feeling) rotating arm last.with large quantities of fries, they are crushed and not crispy
I bought the Genius XL to make fries for the whole family. The deep fryer is not suitable for this purpose, but smaller quantities become wonderfully crispy.
Good product as the food cooks better when spinning!!!
