Synology DS415play
Synology DS415play
Great NAS, great software!
Everything is fine, except for the MediaServer, which is exactly why I bought the "play".
UPnP/DLNA Is difficult to integrate if you have special devices like Dreambox or VU+.
I switched to PlexServer and it works very well. But I would rather buy the 415+ instead of the 415play. Better CPU, more RAM etc.

The device was quickly set up and integrated into the home network.
It has a lot of setting options. Therefore, you have to learn the ropes a little.
Remote access works well. The device runs quietly.
I am very satisfied with it.
Simply great, like everything from Synology! :-)

Good DS for multimedia.
Since some of my films are over 30GB, a somewhat larger volume would be desirable.
With DSM 6.0, the backup of 5 TB is done in a few hours.

A marvel, really easy to use and there's plenty to go around!
Only 4 stars in functionality, because there could be more, it's not poor, but not very rich either.
The other flaw is the configuration, it's very well done, very clear, but no way to scratch
the last %.
In short, I warmly recommend

The Synology software is well thought out and very intuitive.
Access via PC, Mac, iPhone works great.
Still need to test the connection to the remote TV!

Ingenious product, remote access works wonderfully, although it is a bit tricky to set up for complete beginners.

Super device and very quiet. If you want to replace your external hard drives, the Synology DS415play is definitely suitable. But beware if you buy the DS415play to run a Plex server on it, you will be disappointed like me. Synology advertises that the DS415play can even stream 1080p, but this is only possible with the Synology apps, which can access the hardware-accelerated transcoder engine. Plex's transcoder, on the other hand, has no access to this and breaks down at higher resolutions. As an alternative, I have now installed Plex Media Server on a separate computer that does the transcoding.
Conclusion: Ingenious as a storage solution, only suitable as a multimedia solution if you can do without Plex. (It should be said that Synology's own media apps are no longer far behind Plex in terms of functionality.
