I had the Sony NWZ-E464B also with 8GB for 3 years. The device was used almost every day for several hours. Lately the headphone jack has a little wobble, so was looking for a successor.
I recently bought the Sony Walkman NWZ- E 384 and am actually happy with the purchase.
The volume control button and hold button on the side are no longer there, but I don't see that as a disadvantage. After a few days, I find it better to control everything centrally via the round control panel on the front.
The bass seems to be a little weaker than on the previous model, but maybe that's because of my original headphones - which fit my ears extremely well and allow environmental noise, I don't like to walk deaf on the street:
The operation of the successor is also logical and the small differences quickly become habitual. The device is a little smaller than its predecessor, the battery performance is still good but could be better, but, other cheapies are often empty after one or two days, not so the Sony.
I am very satisfied with the successor and can recommend it without reservation if someone often wants to listen to music on the go during the week.

I initially transferred the music from a Mac. I then noticed that it often did not transfer all the songs (about 2 in 50). It also bothers me that you can't create playlists on the device itself, but have to do it externally in Itunes. Otherwise, I am satisfied with it. Especially the long battery life is a huge plus.

shuffle mode - although I have saved around 100 songs, after a while (where it is impossible to play all the songs once) the same songs come up again, which is annoying.
No search mode available
I like the sound quality very much

I'm using Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro (32ohm) and even when the volume is maxed out the sound is soft (didn't ever have to select any country/territory settings).
The display is big but at the same quite bad - I see with no effort the matrix that contains the pixels and the colors are bad.
When playing a song 80% of the display is used to display the image of the cover and if that's not available then it shows just the Sony logo => not possible to show anything else (for example the current bitrate or the ID3 tags, the previous/next songs in folder, or anything else you can think about).
Doesn't have dedicated volume buttons - come on, this is really basic (didn't notice this when buying it).
Conclusion:
used if for 30 minutes and then I went back to my old Sansa Clip+.
(no idea about Laufzeit => gave the max because I did not test it)
The device itself is great and I have had it in operation for 3 years now.
Unfortunately, I now had to find out. Windows newer than Windows 7 no longer recognise the device.
Therefore, I advise against a purchase if you do not have a PC with an older operating system.
Otherwise, the device runs like on the first day and even after 3 years, the battery still runs 24 out of 30 hours former go through one problems.
