I was looking for a TV for movies and my Xbox One X. Picture as big as possible, preferably a good panel and an unobtrusive design. Budget up to max. 1600 CHF.
The Sony 75XG8096 fulfils these purposes almost perfectly.
It "only" has a 60Hz panel, but this is completely sufficient for my purposes and thanks to Motionflow the pictures are still without stuttering. The Direct LED provides good and even illumination and black is now much blacker than on my old Sharp 70 inch Edge LED.
UHD material looks fantastic and even a Blu-Ray or older games are perfectly upscaled. Sure, it's not FALD and it's not OLED, but the picture is fantastic for this size and price range.
The build quality is also good and appropriate for the price. Of course, it's not a high-end TV, but it's a very good mid-range LCD.
Only annoyance. The OS and the feet. Android is a bit lame and cumbersome, but since I mainly use the TV as a monitor (apps and such via Xbox, sound via surround system) it doesn't bother me. The feet are practical because of the cable management, but they are a bit too high for my taste and not particularly attractive. I'd rather have a lower TV, as our sideboard on which it stands is already a bit too high. I still have to find a solution.
HDR content is reproduced well, but the TV simply lacks the luminosity and local dimming to be convincing. I have therefore switched off HDR.
But the price/performance ratio is top!

Top quality, easy integration with Sonos.
Wireless screen transmission still not really usable for professional use.
Good, large TV, which is right in the price-performance ratio. Sure there are better and bigger but for a budget of about 1'250 SFr. I have not found anything better.
