Great bubbler with a bit of marketing fraud.

I ordered the Duo right at release, since SodaStream finally offers larger glass bottles, which in my opinion also look better than the old ones.
The joy when unpacking was great, until I took off the cover for the cylinder.
There one of the brackets broke off. But that's not too bad, because everything still holds. Nevertheless, I would wish for better quality here.
The big disappointment came but when I wanted to fizz the first bottle, because the bottles you should only fill up to the mark, which is not as you might suspect at 1l, but at "only" 0.86l. The reference is unfortunately not in any shop on the product page to find, even at SodaStream you can find the reference only with the bottles in the accessories. After all, the amount is now enough for 3 glasses.
That the cylinder was changed is of course not nice for us customers, but an understandable move on the part of SodaStream.
Despite the initial disappointment, I use the Duo very much and recommend it to others.

    Pro

    • Larger glass bottles
    • Beautiful design (subjective)

    Contra

    • You can only fizz 0.86l (not 1l)
    • Not so robust

    Soda Stream Duo

The SodaStream Duo has now been in use in our household for just under a month and has so far been able to convince us with a few negative points. It is striking how much the consumption of plastic bottles has reduced, this was / is certainly one of the big plus points of the Soda Stream. Likewise, the consumption of "Blööterliwasser" has increased and sweet drinks are now hardly consumed (alternatively, Sodastream also offers various syrups if desired). From an environmental perspective (sustainability, reduction of waste, etc.), the SodaStream Duo is certainly a tool with which you can achieve a lot without much effort. The taste of the water is of course dependent on the (tap) water with which the bottles are filled, so this is not a point which is relevant for the evaluation. A big plus, however, is that the carbon dioxide content of the individual bottles can be regulated according to your own taste. So everyone has exactly the Blööterliwasser he likes. The supplied bottles (1x plastic and 1x glass) have a comfortable size to take them to the workplace or on a walk / trip. Only the filling quantity restriction reduces the content of the bottles below one liter (around 8dl), so the bottles are also drunk accordingly quickly empty. So if you have several people to visit you will not come around additional bottles to buy (provided everyone wants cold water). for everyday use in a family of 3 to 4 people (as with us) the bottle size / filling quantity but so far no problem. The Sodastream Duo is definitely a product which we can and will recommend with a clear conscience.

Good device but bad cylinder solution

Actually a cool device but unfortunately also an attempt by Sodastream to make more money with their incompatible cylinders, which unfortunately you have to fill up at exorbitant prices. Thought at first it would not bother me, but is so tedious and expensive that I would strongly advise against a purchase.

    Pro

    • Glass bottle
    • Works perfectly

    Contra

    • Cylinders must be refilled at Sodastream
    • Cost and effort for refilling

    From the 'M'.

Defective CO2 bottle seal just after the warranty!
Sodastream's answer: "We don't have a repair service, and we don't deliver the gasket for repair".
So you have to throw away the machine for a small gasket!
    Bravo the ecological
    ads!!!!
    To be avoided...

    Less carbonic acid

Thank goodness I kept my Chrystal because the functionality is identical, the bubbling experience, that is, the content of carbon dioxide unsurpassed better. With the predecessor, you can influence to some extent how much carbon dioxide I pump in and thus choose between medium and real fizz.
The simpler feel with the gas cartridge (unnecessary )provides only for more Rennerei, because this system is not "more" everyone sells. I have heard from some dealers of tremendous problems with the Sodastream company.
It really only took one change, a Sodastream with larger bottles, no more and no less.
After immediately noticing the weak point with the lower carbonation, I turned to Sodastream. They told me to send in the brand new unit, nothing more they could do. I never received an answer to my request, my question.
The criticism is sent by phone as well as by email and somewhat arrogantly moderated away because they know exactly, the Sodastream is now a self-runner, even with little advertising.

    Pro

    • Larger bottles

    Contra

    • Carbonic acid no longer dosable
    • Cartridge change unnecessary
    • Arrogant with criticism
