Does what it should!
I didn't read the comments before buying and was disappointed to find out that the Smart Tag2 only works on Samsung devices. That's why I'm deducting two stars! @Digitec please mention this in the description!
About the device:
- Easy to set up with the Samsung app "Smartthings" (you can also sign in with a Google account if you don't want to create a Samsung account)
- Waterproof (up to 2m)
- The hidden button is a bit annoying because it is very easy to press. (If you activate the energy-saving mode, the button is also deactivated! - But then you have to do without some functions)
I wanted to hide the smart tag in an old SSD hard drive that I carry in my rucksack, but unfortunately it's a bit too thick for that. Thanks to the energy-saving mode, the tag should last a very long time!
I can't say anything about the other features because they are switched off in energy-saving mode.
ADDENDUM 04.04.2024:
I've just realised that I visited a place whose exact location I couldn't remember and wanted to find out. But it seems that the availability of this information (location history) is limited to one week! Unfortunately, I can't find any more information about it here either. (See picture)Pro

Both good and bad
On the whole, the concept of the new SmartTag 2 has convinced me. However, there are numerous minor problems that detract from the overall experience.
Problem #1:
The SmartTag beeped inexplicably often for me and other users, as I read on Reddit. After some time, I figured out that this noise occurs because the battery is not perfectly connected to the contacts in the SmartTag. The momentary interruption of the contact causes the SmartTag to play the start sound when it is switched on. Fortunately, I was able to fix this easily by placing a small piece of paper under the battery.
Problem no. 2:
The speaker in the SmartTag 2 is much quieter than in its predecessor, which is difficult for me personally to understand.
Problem no. 3:
After only two months, the SmartTag 2 suddenly broke down from one day to the next. It is displayed as "Not Nearby" in the app, and even pressing the button no longer produces any sound. Even trying it out with other, fully charged batteries did not bring any improvement.
Fortunately, I purchased the product here and my money was refunded immediately. I have now ordered another one and hope to have better luck with this one.
