    No buy recommendation

    - Poor sound reproduction, subwoofer remains completely silent at medium frequencies, no smooth low pass. At some point, a frequency/volume threshold is reached at which the software switches on the subwoofer and does so abruptly and with an obvious bass boost.
    - System does not start automatically when connected via Toslink. The remote control must always be close by if you want to have sound. But it has to be there anyway, because
    - System does not save settings. Every time you are not satisfied with the default settings, you have to change the equalizer from Movie to Music and turn off Surround Sound. Seriously now, the thing doesn't even save the last selected settings.
    - Wifi connection does not work. For weeks now, the damn orange Wifi LED has been flashing, but every attempt to connect the soundbar to the Wifi via the app has failed. The only help from the app is to try again.
    - Without a WiFi connection, the custom setting on the equalizer cannot be changed. Maybe I would have a chance to adjust the sound more to my taste, but I guess I will never know.
    - Phillips support is not responding. Regarding the connection problem, I contacted Phillips support but never received a reply

Beautiful soundbar with various software quirks

Bought because it does not build high and thus fits in front of the "deep" new Panasonic TVs. Visually it is very nicely done, not black, but in a dark gray. Looks good. Also very plain and not so obtrusive. Also it does not cover the picture of the TV. Installed it is fast and goes easily by hand.

Sound: it's appropriate for the price range. Average. Who expects 7.1 cinema feeling, is wrong here. Surround solala. But some good sound effects, depending on the film. Bass very overpowering, must be massively set to minus. Unfortunately, he always loses after standby the setting is back at ZERO. So reset after each power on. Music rather below average, even if only set to stereo. For the need gehts, but is really no pleasure. But Apple Airplay is good. Also with Play-Fi can be heard from the phone.

Unfortunately, still massive software flaws. Hope to be improved with updates. If you connect Apple TV 4K to the HDMI, comes for 1 second the picture on the TV, then black. Nothing works. Also tried with Ultra High Speed HDMI cables. Can't get it to work. Means the HDMI inputs currently unusable. No idea if defective or software. Think software as it goes 1 second. I also bought 2 new Play-Fi Philips speakers for surround. You can get them to work but extremely unreliable. After switching on they sometimes come on, sometimes not. Will still clarify with Philips regarding surround and HDMI input.

Conclusion: very nice noble soundbar. Unfortunately, still software flaws. HDMI inputs currently not usable. Atmos does not work. Sound mediocre, rather below the price level. Music bad. Recommendation for purchase I can not currently give.
