Philips Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip 75"
Philips Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip 75"
Two less conventional uses for these ribbons than simply putting them behind a TV:
The first use is behind a setup of 3 28" monitors for video games with the Hue Sync app for PC. Without being revolutionary, it works pretty well. When the game is launched, the app automatically starts the synchronization of the banner. The colors on the edge of the screen drive the various segments of the banner which project their colors. The Hue Plays become less attractive in my opinion.
The second use is as a backlight behind the sofa in addition to an ambilight TV with a hue sync box. I might as well say right away that the ambilight of a high-end Philips TV has more intense colors than this strip... but it's not bad either and behind the sofa it's as if the ambilight subtly extends to the whole room.
As far as installation and synchronization are concerned, nothing to complain about, it's very easy to set up. There are even instructions for use that come along in the form of animations and videos in the app. The pads to hold the headband in place have a huge sticky surface. The Hue and Hue Sync apps whether on PC or Android work perfectly.
After that, the negative point remains, the price and the prerequisites! Between the bridge, the hue sync box and the headbands: the photons at Philips / Signify are not cheap!

Many have been waiting for this for a long time!
With this Lightstripe, a kind of Ambilight can be retrofitted to virtually any TV!
The installation is easy and can be done within a few minutes!
IMPORTANT!
The system does not work simply on the TV, an external "player" (set-top box, Apple TV, PC) or similar is required as well as a HUE Sync Box or at least the Sync App when playing from the PC!
Internal TV sources cannot pass on the signal!
The entire equipment required is therefore quite expensive and for some people it would even be cheaper to place a "cheap" Philips TV with Ambilight behind their TV and play the same programme there;-)

Made almost an Ambilight from any TV, fits and works perfectly.
Unfortunately, the price for a LED tape is just off, therefore only 3 stars

Very good product that is very easy to install. Much more comfortable to install than the Stripes.
The light is great, beautifully even and gives a great ambience.
Unfortunately, the price is very high and to enjoy the full scope, you need the Syncbox, which costs another 250. These prices are relatively high...
That's why I've done without the Syncbox until now. It looks great that way too.
If someone is willing to pay that much, then I can recommend the product without further ado.

The cable that goes from the leds to the power box is strangely designed. The connection is very wobbly and does not engage nicely with the pins. This causes the power supply to wobble and can lead to a complete failure of the lights. As a result, you have to move the plug around for 15 minutes until the contacts fit together again. I find this a great pity at such a considerable price.

Yes, it's not very cheap, but I'm very happy with the Philips Hue line.
Together with the Sync Box, watching TV and gaming is on another level 🤩
If you think it's too expensive, you don't have to buy it. It's not a must-have! 😉

I bought the 75" strip for my 65" TV so that it would cover all the way around. The light strip is easy to install and really adds a wow-factor to your home cinema.

I have long, really long thought about whether I should make this purchase. In addition to the Light Strip is namely also the Hue Bridge and Hue HDMI Sync needed. The latter device is the most expensive purchase.
But you also get something for the money delivered. The LED strip is really very robust and is also qualitatively well built. The installation is very easy. Provided that one uses a mobile / tablet with a newer Android version. Otherwise, you look in vain for the Hue Sync app in the app store. It is simply not listed. Without this, the Hue Sync box can not be set up. Unfortunately, this is not pointed out in any instructions!
After the full setup, everything went like clockwork. The LED strip did exactly what it was supposed to and it is indeed an asset. Not only with movies, but also with video games comes up a little more mood.
But to get good effects, it has to be dark. In daylight, you don't even have to bother turning on the Syncbox and the Light Strip. But I'm sure that's obvious to everyone.
Conclusion: A costly purchase, which is really worthwhile with the effects. If you want to do without changing colors, then you simply turn on the LED strip via the normal Hue app and leave the Sync Box deactivated. In this setup, you can configure the backlighting to your liking. This pretty much gives you the best of both worlds.

The signal must run via the sync box - four inputs - one output to the TV. Switching the input source must then always be done via the Hue Sync app - thus no longer via the TV directly. This is not yet the non-plus-ultra. But if the channel is once set - it works well. But is certainly not the same as when the TV has Ambilight directly integrated.
I have been waiting for this part for a long time.
As usual with Philips hue, the installation is super easy and almost happens by itself.
The light control works together with the Sync Box perfectly and as expected.
Since I have a quite thin TV that used to hang quite close to the wall, the Gradient Light Strip did not fit between the wall and the TV. A certain distance from the wall is also advantageous for the effect.

For synchronisation with a Samsung TV, you also need a Hue Bridge and the Samsung TV Hue app for around €160, which is then linked to the TV.

I don't understand how people can light their houses so well with these devices so that the cables and sockets can't be seen.

The architecture you need to acquire to enjoy ambilight on your screen is a substantial investment (lightstrip+hue bridge+Sync box)!
So if you're NOT a cinema-goer, if you don't have a complete HDR (or even better dolby vision) architecture (HD source, HD cables, HD screen), you'll have to pass because the peripheral light frame will never enhance poor screen content.
But if you want to go all the way, then the game is so worth the candle that watching a film without ambilight will become disturbingly dull...

I have HUE Gradient Lightstrips, Gradient signe as well as other Hue products for the Deco and Play area. The diffuser for the gradient is really very successful and something special. I installed it on an LG OLED G class model and it looks really, really nice when it indirectly illuminates the wall in a free-floating position. Perhaps it would be nice as a product if it integrated the Hue Play Controller at the same time, as the product is really only intended for monitors, that would add to the whole thing. Otherwise, for me one of the top HUE products that I would buy again at any time, Philips has really come up with something. Compared to the Lightstrips, I have the feeling that the Hue Play is slightly more powerful than the Lightstrip Gradient, which I find very useful, especially for decorative lighting.
