Philips Hue Play Basis + Extension
530 lm
I already own a Philips TV (21:9) with Ambilight for a long time. Therefore, I know the effect already and find that it is a cool gimmick to dive a little more into a movie or a game. With the positioning you have to try something. But for each lamp yes 2 stands are available.
What Digitec must necessarily improve, are the product descriptions and especially the note that is required for the operation of a Hue Bridge.
- The Hue Play are 2 lamps and 1 power supply (per power supply can operate 3 Play lamps).
- The Hue Play base set is 1 lamp with power supply unit
- The Hue Play extension is 1 lamp
The Hue Bridge you have to buy at Digitec so in any case still separately if you do not already own.

After installing the Philips Hue Play in my room, I immediately noticed that the power supply makes a clearly audible beeping noise. It is most audible in bright white colours. I then asked Digitec to send me a replacement, but it still beeps. Annoying!
If you google it, the problem has existed since 2017, but Philips can't seem to get a grip on it.

I have stuck the 2 Hue plays directly to my 34" gaming monitor. Now I have great backlighting.
Hue Sync I can recommend, but only for fullscreen applications! (with 16:9 videos on the 21:9 screen, the Hue Plays are unfortunately not controlled due to the black bars)!
The adhesive pads hold extremelyst well, so I can no longer reposition the Hue Plays. Unfortunately, the holder system is not finished thought.

Here is my update/experience with the Hue Play, which I installed yesterday. What has already been mentioned many times: You need a Hue Bridge, otherwise nothing works except steady white light.
For the colour synchronisation with a TV there are 2 possibilities:
1. the PHILIPS HUE Play HDMI Sync Box, which costs just under CHF 200.
2. with a compatible TV (e.g. newer Samsung) via the HUE TV app. Here's what I couldn't find anywhere and was surprised to find: activating the app costs a whopping CHF 159! It's no use to me without the app, so I paid. However, I find it sneaky that this is not mentioned anywhere (as far as I know).
If you want to switch the lights on and off without the app, you need a switch, e.g. the dimmer switch.
Now I hope that I can help others with this article when deciding to buy!

Great product, very good quality, lights up the back of my TV very well (I only have one HuE Play so I can imagine with a double pack what it would look like)

Don't forget to buy the Hue Bridge if this is your first Philips Hue product!

Lamps are super and are ideal for indirect lighting. Only the delivery situation is underground

The lamp would be good in itself, but the feet are made of cheap rubber instead of silicone. If they are placed on natural wood bases, ugly stains that look like burn marks appear very quickly and cannot be removed without deep sanding and a new sealing treatment. Therefore not recommended for anyone who has natural wood tables and plans to place this lamp on them. Also applies to laminate.

The group of lamps (3 in my case) is managed very well in the HUE app and the choice of colorful scenes and the best effect. The whole thing also integrates very well with my home automation system with Home Assistant.

Great rendering, the feet could be more flexible and offer a better positioning.

Processing and quality is very good and the app also works very well. What does not work so well is the synchronization with Netflix series (copyright) and music has a small delay and the "sound images" are also not as spekatulär as in advertising. Would they but trozdem buy again. The power adapter is also very good, you can plug 3 lights at once and has not for each lamp a Eigenen.

Works well but no sync directly with a screen or with the chrome cast. On the other hand, works very well with a google type device (Home) and syncs perfectly with other HUE devices

The only problem is that this item is only usable if you have a hue bridge, which I didn't know.
I had to get this one after I realized that.

I have the Playbar slightly larger estimated. However, it has enough power to make up for this.

You can only switch the lamp on and off via the app.
It is therefore only of limited use.
It would be more practical if it could be switched on by app AND manually.
Completely unusable for me.
And if you only want to control it via the app, an additional switch would probably not be too much trouble.
