Great all-rounder for the price
My previous model TX-NR626 was already a great device but the Nr696 has even more great features. Noticeably improved, of course, the network use with their apps and the Wifi speed. Chromecast-perfect, Tune In radio as usual and for me very besoders useful Amazon Music.THX Music/Movie mode sounds perfect, I had to fine-tune anything more. Menu navigation and settings as usual from Onkyo - simple. The power of the amplifier is more than sufficient - makes my Teufel system sweat :)

Perfect
Great amp, power and quality!
Price / performance ratio OK, but not outstanding.
In itself a good device.
+ Easy handling of the sources
+ Description agrees with performance as far as I could see that
- I had already 2-3x, that the picture on the TV remained black although the right source was selected. Here are probably synchronization problems zw. the different devices the problem (HDCP negotiate). After everything was switched off and on again, it ran again.
- bad handling of all digital stuff (button NET) wi TuneIn (internet radio,).
- no DAB
- At the ease of use (especially for older people) manufacturers could do more.
following possibly due to Digitec:
- Power cable was EU instead of CH
- Manual on paper was in polish.like clockwork

Very happy with this new model!
Good amp, good connectivity, excellent acoustic adjustment with the integrated microphone, on-screen display of the parameters (unlike an older model I had), shortcut keys on the remote control that we could not find before and that forced us to go into the system menu.
