    finally found the right one...

After several attempts with different lenses and zoom factors, I finally found the right one. The lens does not impress with its wide angle but with its ability to bring out details. And it does that perfectly. My fears about being able to hold a 12x zoom steady at all because of the high magnification have evaporated with this lens. I can hold it more steady than a 10x30. I don't know how they do it.
If you are looking for a light and comfortable 12x binocular, you are well served here - also in terms of price.

    Pro

    • Very good sharpness from the centre almost to the edge
    • Bright, clear, good contrast, real colours
    • CA well corrected, slightly noticeable towards the edge on hard contrasts
    • Light and comfortable
    • Precise and direct focusing with the right resistance
    • 12x zoom is WOW
    • Diopter adjustment with the right resistance
    • hardly any bending effects (rolling ball can be heard when moving sideways)
    • Overall very high quality workmanship
    • In short: A glass that is a lot of fun to make

    Contra

    • None so far
    • Matter of taste: the front covers hold firmly, but are not the latest thing aesthetically

Good optics but material a bit cheap

I guess this is a good compromise for price/quality. There are no better options for this price and still are Nikon. The optics are very good tho. I think the only thing where you feel the price is in the materials. For instance, the upper lens protector is made of hard plastic instead of rubber. Overall happy with them

    Pro

    • Nikon glasses (made in China, apparently)
    • Price/quality

    Contra

    • Materials feel a bit cheap on the touch

    Good value for money

I have replaced my very old family binoculars with the "Nikon Monarch M5 12x42" and am pleasantly surprised. In contrast to my "Swarovski NL Pure 12x42", you can also leave it to the grandchild to observe animals. I am thrilled.

    Super

Very satisfied with these binoculars. Very good value for money. I was expecting binoculars that were perhaps more compact and slightly lighter, but you can see straight away that they are of high quality and robust. I'll have to wait and see how much they weigh in use, but otherwise they're perfect.

    Pro

    • Zoom
    • Image quality
    • Easy to use
    • Robustness

    Contra

    • A little heavy
