I've also had the headset for a few years and I have the same problem. The padding is coming apart. I have asked the customer service for new padding, but have not received an answer yet. Too bad...

Very good sound quality. However, the padding comes off completely after 1 year on the headset if you use the headset often and makes you constantly dirty. People who wear the headset from time to time I can still recommend the headset. Frequent users leave the fingers of it!

I must say that I am a convinced Logitech customer. Apart from the look, there is absolutely nothing to criticise about the workmanship of the G35. I think the material is really cool.
The main drawbacks are the sound and the weight of the headset. The microphone is probably the best I have ever used. The rest is unusable, at least for my purposes. Firstly, the surround in shooters like BFBC2 cannot compete in the slightest with that of a Creative Xfi sound card. Everything is overdriven and the sounds just fly around your ears. Trebles hurt. You don't even have to want to use it as a stereo headphone. Underground.
Somehow there seems to be something wrong with the listening volume. For me, everything remained too quiet.
Logitech kindly provides three different cushions. But that doesn't change the fact that you get a hell of a headache after a while if - as in my case - they don't fit and press on the top of your head due to their heavy weight.
Conclusion: I unfortunately had to throw the G35 in the corner after two weeks. And considering that this part plays in the 150 league, I'm really disappointed in Logitech. Design top, use flop.

Pads dissolve over time
The sound of this headset is absolutely convincing. Unfortunately, the leather on the upholstery dissolves after a while and starts to crumble away. That means you always find pieces of artificial leather in your hair and on the floor. That should not be the case.
