Originally the Phillips 40" was planned, but it still has (had) some teething troubles, and then I saw this monitor in a review on a DE gamer website, informed digitec about it, and lo and behold, within no time it was available here! ^^ (for this, the price of the Phillips suddenly dropped significantly ;) - - - Great picture when gaming (DOTA, D3, Victor Vran etc.). --> connected with a good DP cable + DP1.4 set on the monitor, ZOTAC GTX980 GraKa) and also watching films - - - Brightness/contrast much too bright at the factory, currently both set to 55 (of 100), otherwise you need sunglasses ^^. The monitor may not have as many settings as the Phillips, but sometimes less is more ;) - - - 40" is ideal, I had a DELL 30" before, but even bigger is no longer ideal in my opinion. - - Attention: The display is MIRROR! Not necessarily HP's Bright Glare, but somewhere in between. So lighting that is directly behind you is nicely reflected, as is daylight from the window. So take appropriate precautions here! - - Furthermore, the part is NOT height-adjustable, in contrast to the Phillips with its monopod, the iiyama has 2 fixed "crow's feet". It is best to put something underneath (I used 2 DVD cases), or you have the appropriate furniture.

The 40" Iiyama is connected with HDMI and fed from an Asus UHD notebook. The signal from the notebook is recognised perfectly after start-up. The sharpness and contrast of the UHD are excellent, and there is no need for a second screen, as you have four smaller HD screens in front of you, seamlessly and without edges. In fact, the surface is not completely matt, which neither bothers me nor hinders me in suitable lighting. I hardly notice the edge shading criticised in other reviews when viewed at a 90° angle, which tends to happen when you sit very close to the monitor. It's clear that a movable chair is a must for this size.

I bought the monitor as a desktop replacement for my PC and am very happy with it, except for the backlight. It's great for gaming and I fully enjoy the advantage of the 4K in 40" compared to my previous 2x27" FullHD. However, the backlighting is very poor, no clouds, but about 1cm of each edge is dimmed. With windows in full screen, you can see this more than clearly and it is really annoying. Otherwise, it has the TV functions, which are not really great, like wanting to switch itself off after two hours.

Have had this for 11 months, used it for about 7, and although it's a decent monitor, now it's making noise when it gets warm.
It comes and goes, but there is a humming sound almost as loud as you get from a fridge.
May have to take this back.
Nice screen, lots of inputs, efficient slab, even for gaming (maybe less for FPS).
A 40" 4K at this price is great!

Very nice monitor with remote control! As we don't have a TV and we watch Netflix, we wanted to watch our series and movies on the couch. But with 27" and 32" monitors, it's not practical. With this great 4K screen and my very good computer, it's perfect! Plus, playing immersive video games or watching live streams on Twitch while ironing, what a luxury!!! Playing Subnautica on a screen like this is great!
