HP G5 Universal Dock
USB-C, 10 Ports
Preface. It's not really a docking station, but a better USB port replicator.
You have to remember, there are two cables (1x Type-C/TB3 and 1x power) must be connected, if you are more powerful devices are connected, and has nothing to do with docking. If you have bad luck you have to look for the cables again and again.
Besides, there are two versions. One with and one without combo cable. With the combo cable, it's a little easier, but you are limited when it comes to placement, because the cable is not interchangeable. With the other version you are flexible, but you may have to juggle with two cables.
The initial installation is also a bit fiddly. If software and firmware (laptop and dock) are really matched, the whole thing does not work.
For users, like me, who mainly work stationary, a consideration worth.
For users who are often on the road, very fiddly and no comparison with real docking stations. But unfortunately there is now no other.

Horrible, need the docking station only to charge the laptop at home. Very expensive charger.
Had to buy a Lenovo docking station, because this model has taken an extremely long time with each disconnect and reconnect until work could be done again. In addition, the screens have often remained black and have also had short interruptions in between.
Other employees with the same docking station also have massive problems.
The HP support forum hasn't helped either.

I bought it for my HP omen 15. It constantly has connection problems. It gradually became too stupid for me and I removed it again.

In order for your Apple notebook to work, it needs this additional DisplayLink software:

The docking station has been running perfectly with an HP ProBook so far. Connect the device and simply continue working as if nothing were wrong. No lag in image transfer when using the Thunderbolt. Plug it in and get right on with it - no waiting, no hesitation. I was undecided at first because many reviews had problems, which I am glad to say I can't confirm. The device is very compact and takes up hardly any space. All connections are very easy to reach.

I have had the G2 dock for about 2 months now in conjunction with an HP Omen laptop. The dock is not recommended, it makes high-frequency sounds in standby, or the power supply. This was already replaced, then it was a little better, but now it starts again.
In addition, USB devices fail from time to time or hang up, so to speak the KB or the mouse get "stuck" for a short time. I have tried two wireless headsets, both of which get interference via USB with the dock in the handset. Updates for the dock (when the update manager works) have not helped either.
All in all, the dock is a disgrace for the price.

It's hard to choose between the various HP docks, which look very similar.
In the end I chose the USB version because I thought the extra cost of the Thunderbolt system was too high.
In the office I have the Thunderbolt version and frankly I don't notice any difference. Except for charging the laptop.

No hp docking works with the asus vivobook so I have to plug the external screen directly into the laptop and turn it on by hand too. The only thing that works is the usb keyboard and mouse plugged into the docking station.
On the other hand, it works great with my business PC, which is an HP.
But not so universal
The G5 works as promised after 4 weeks of usage. Charging via USB-C works well. Display is connected via HDMI, mouse and keyboard via USB-A and a high resolution camera via the UCB-C in front additionally I use the audio out for a headphones.

Installed without any problems on HP Spectre 2017. Has all the required connections. Does what it should. Digitec customer service obligingly replaces power cable. Gladly again!

Everything was great in the beginning, but after a few months the dock became extremely loud. The fan always spins at full speed regardless of the load.
After a bit of googling, the problem has been known for years and affects several different versions of HP docks. Despite this, HP simply ignores the problem. The official forums are full of complaints that are ignored.
For those who have the problem, the dock can easily be opened and the fan unplugged.
It was the first and last HP dock I bought. I would also advise everyone not to buy an HP dock.

When I order this product in CH, I expect a CH power cable.

Price and performance are perfect. It's a pity that the description doesn't mention that it's the EU version and that there's no CH power cable included. What am I supposed to do with the German connection cable?

Yes, really, the difference between the two versions is just a stronger power supply and an included combo cable for Thunderbolt and power instead of just Thunderbolt. The power cable also fits the Envy 15, even if it is not on the compatibility list. However, I don't know if an Omen will work.
The combo cable can be split at one end if the Thunderbolt and charging sockets on the notebook are not right next to each other. Unscrew the dock at the bottom and turn the cable around. Both the Thunderbolt and the combo cable are very short in length if you have to plug the dock into the left side of the notebook but want to set it up on the right, and the cables come out of the dock a bit in all directions.
1 star off for the poor audio output, just one headphone jack at the front. But unfortunately I haven't found a single Thunderbolt dock with SPDIF or similar yet :(
Another star deduction for the fan, which fans absolutely unpredictably, quietly but audibly, sometimes even when the notebook is in stand-by. I unscrewed the dock and unplugged the fan.
The large power button at the top with status light, which can be used to wake up the notebook, is practical.
Why it still needs a VGA connection today is a bit of a mystery to me, I would have found HDMI or more USB-A better. Or, as mentioned above, SPDIF.
The image errors from other reviews only occur at high refresh rates and/or with Gsync. Just set the screen to 60 Hz and everything runs as it should.

I was looking forward to the new HP combination. Unfortunately, the duo does not work at all. Either I have LAN on the adapter or LAN on the dock. The picture on a high resolution monitor is not stable and drives you crazy. Why on earth does a docking for the USB-C age only have a USB-C port?
The grotesque thing: the HP laptop works fine with a Lenovo docking together. In other words, the docking is already going to the disposal, and this in a time when we should not unnecessarily burden the environment.

I bought 4 docking stations and they all came with a flat power cable. German version instead of Swiss 3-pin plug. When I buy a product from a Swiss dealer, I also expect a Swiss power cable.

You buy an HP dock for an HP laptop and HP monitors. All good and compatible? Peace, joy, fiddlesticks!
I've rarely had a hardware product that was so technically immature. When plugging in, it takes ages for the picture to appear on the monitors. After the screen saver starts (monitor off), one monitor is usually no longer recognised. Sometimes the USB port on the device works, sometimes not and the keyboard no longer works.
A "Monday model"? Not at all! This is the third (and last!) time I've had one of these.

Bought the dock with the idea of connecting my 13" MacBook 2019 and using my 2 monitors with it. However, that doesn't work with this dock as all the connected monitors just mirror each other. Whether it is due to the lack of software from HP for Mac OS or the latter itself, I could not find out clearly and now send the whole thing back!
Attention. This is an EU product with an EU plug. This is a lot cheaper from the competition.
It is a pity that this is not stated in the title and is not immediately obvious.
Because the package was opened, only 90% of the purchase price was credited to me for the return.

Laptop display usage is optional, if you fold the laptop, that is automatically turned off (at least in my case - HP 445 G7), and I'm using the 2 external displays via DP ports. It is using a simple USB-C port for communication, and it is charging the laptop.

The docking station from HP leaves me somewhat perplexed. The device is as heavy as a brick and still requires an external (and not exactly lightweight) power supply. The docking station is only suitable for a fixed workstation; it is too heavy and unwieldy for use on the move.

ATTENTION: For the DiplayLink functionality you have to buy the G2 dock and not the G5.
I am very happy with this product because it finally allows me to use more than one external display on my Macbook. You have to download the DisplayLink software for the dock to work properly:
