Dreame L40 Ultra
Vacuum mopping robot
I always thought iRobot was the best you could have. Was probably just hooked on the brand until my 1100th Fraken Roomba didn't do what you'd expect. I've now switched to this Dreame and what can I say... it's WORLDS! Dreame doesn't drive pointlessly into walls, furniture and suck up socks or cables. It dodges, stops, has no problems with fine slippery carpets (it vacuums them without moving them) and doesn't get lost or suddenly find itself in front of non-existent chasms - as iRobot often does. Simply superb.
It mapped my 75m2 perfectly within 6 minutes, recognising carpets, curtains etc.
What I like about the model is that it cleans the pads when mopping, e.g. every 20m2 (adjustable) and washes them at 65 degrees after cleaning. Other cheaper models wash them at fewer degrees. That's why I opted for this model. You don't have to put anything in the washing machine yourself). I had picked up the floor (about 2 weeks ago, single household, no children, no animals, not at home during the day) and thought it was clean. Dreame then did a deep clean and about 6 dl of really dark grey water came out. Scary but really fascinating. So it cleans with a lot of water and takes the dirty water straight back in. Not all robots do that!
I've had it for a week now and it mops almost every day to achieve a certain basic cleanliness. The amount of dirt it gets out is simply gigantic. You can call yourself a bad housewife afterwards or just be happy that you now have the Dreame.
AI camera: You can find it cool or a bit "scary" because it recognises and films everything. But with data protection, they will certainly and hopefully have it under control :)
Negatives:
Now after 12 passes, the mapping suddenly shifts and it creates another corridor next to mine and so on. That's a bit daft, as it no longer recognises the exclusion zones correctly. But as mapping now takes 6 minutes, I'll just do it again and hope it doesn't happen every week. I also find it daft that the station keeps saying "Start cleaning, clean pads...". I have it on the quietest volume but can't find a switch-off function.
Yes, the thing is expensive. But it can do something. And I wouldn't save the 200-300 francs for the cheaper model, as hot cleaning simply has advantages.
However, what the advertising video doesn't say is true: That you only have to do something to the station every 70 days or so. With a deep clean, the very large fresh water tank lasts about 3-4 times. Depending on the water setting (almost dry to very wet) and the square metre.
My conclusion: Never again iRobot. Dreame highly recommended!
Important: You really need space for the station, it's massive.
#LoveIt!!!

I had high hopes for the Dreame L40 Ultra, but unfortunately I was disappointed. The robot hoover did not fulfil expectations in several areas:
Problems with navigating
The Dreame L40 Ultra got stuck during operation, even in places where other models could easily pass. This not only impairs efficiency, but also means that you have to constantly intervene - it is also not clear to me how the robot navigates (in a complicated way).
Difficulties with the pads
It was particularly frustrating that the robot lost its cleaning pads (at a door gap and a cable) and was then no longer able to pick them up on its own. Unfortunately, putting the pads down in the station while vacuuming does not work without problems either. This makes the whole concept of an autonomous cleaning appliance almost obsolete.
Mediocre suction power
Compared to the Roborock-Qrevo models, with which I have already had good experiences, the suction power of the Dreame L40 Ultra is disappointing. It often leaves behind visible dirt, which is unacceptable for a device in this price range.
To summarise, the Dreame L40 Ultra is an appliance that sounds promising on paper, but is disappointing in practice due to its numerous weaknesses. For me, it is not a real alternative to the tried and tested Roborock models. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend buying it. However, it may improve with the next software update.
