    "Ordinary" coffee from innovative machine

I bought the coffee machine today at Migros after a demonstration. The design is very well done in my opinion. The printed, unpackaged coffee balls are reminiscent of chocolate balls (e.g. Lindor) and are sold nine at a time in cardboard boxes. In my opinion, this is a bit of a shame, as the previous Caffe Royal capsules were sold in much larger boxes, which significantly reduces the amount of waste.

However, the machine itself is subjectively quieter compared to my old DeLonghi Nespresso and the brewing time is not significantly longer. However, at the beginning of the process, a little water from the steam activation/cleaning process leaks out and gets into the cup. However, this is not significantly bad in my opinion.
In terms of taste, I could not notice any difference to the conventional Caffee Royal capsules, although the taste is of course very personal.

I would recommend the machine to anyone, especially if you have a compost or green waste.

Good concept but poorly designed machine

The CoffeB concept is revolutionary, one wonders why nobody thought of it before.
The implementation of the concept is still very messy at the moment (in my opinion). The machine is not thought through to the end, nor is
it realised to the end. We quickly notice the "cheap" side of the machine with a lot of plastic parts. Unfortunately this one is made in China, which completely dismantles the ecological concept...
The coffee ball dispenser on top of the machine simply does not work, the mechanism does not turn when the dispenser is full of coffee balls. This detail is unacceptable, the designers must have realised this but did not fix the problem.
The coffee is not hot enough when it comes out of the machine, so if you like to drink your coffee hot and not tempered, you'll have to drink it directly.
Overall a good concept but the experience of the team who developed and produced the machine is not yet optimal. We are looking forward to an update of the machine with all these defects corrected :)

    Pro

    • Ecological concept of coffee balls
    • Noise level not too high
    • Large enough water tank

    Contra

    • The details of the machine are not thought through
    • Machine manufacturing in China
    • Capsule boxes contain plastic, which prevents full recycling
    • Coffee not hot enough when it comes out of the machine, must be drunk immediately to avoid being cold
    • The coffee ball dispensing system on the machine does not work, impossible to turn

    More defective than functional

We have had the machine for three months. After the first ten cups, it pumped water into the container, but no longer produced coffee. Then weeks (!) of discussion with the store and the manufacturer about who was responsible for the repair or return. CoffeeB referred to the shop, the shop referred to CoffeeB. I called in the consumer protection agency. I can't say who repaired the part afterwards. I returned the machine to the shop and got it back two weeks later. It worked again, for a whole eight cups. Then the same defect and surprise: once again, the shop and the manufacturer are blaming each other and no one wants to repair it. So it will come down to consumer protection again.
The concept of the capsule-free sphere is still ingenious - but it's a staircase joke if you produce a whole pile of electronic waste to go with it. You can't repair anything yourself without losing the warranty, because everything on the machine is screwed together in such a way that you can't reach it anywhere. Friends of mine had exactly the same problem and, frustrated by the lack of service from CoffeeB, threw the machine in the bin after just three weeks because the shop refused to take it back.
I've had my hands on a lot of Chinese rubbish and "Monday" products in the past, but this machine from CoffeeB made it to the top of the list of e-waste within a very short time.

    Pro

    • The theory behind it

    Contra

    • Constantly defective
    • Nobody feels responsible
