    good stuff camera fun, unbreakable

i have been violently molesting this phone, throwing it on the ground, on cement on walls ,in water, in the river, in the bathtub.

I was assaulted the other night at the station of bern and used it to defend myself. the
3 assailants have multiple skull rib and spine fractures caused by the ultra robust yet light frame of my cats62

the last one of them tried to run and hide in the sewers but i was very quickly able to spot him thanks to the infrared camera that works like magic and allowed me to stalk the poor b4stard in the dark, ultimately ambushing him.

I was able to call an ambulance despite being in the deep part of the bernese sewers because the receiving is very good too.

otherwise its a normal android based phone that does everything like any other phone.

I would write more but I my colleague forgot to bring the hammer and we need to nail some planks so again the CAT is needed.

    Cheers

    Cool thing

This is the first time that I have had a thermal imaging camera at my disposal and I must say that I am quite enthusiastic. Enclosed are a few pictures I took today, including of the Ulisse 13 DCI mobile split air conditioner, which is available from Galaxus, among others.
Otherwise: Robust, high-quality looking mobile phone. The frame extends a fraction of a mm beyond the display and the cameras to prevent glass damage when dropped. I notice this when using the phone, but it doesn't bother me much.
The price seems rather high to me, but the competition is manageable and therefore they can probably afford it. The Lepton 3.5 from FLIR is installed, which alone costs around CHF 200 and has a resolution of 160x120.

    Very good

A good phone for basic use. Replaces an old Android 5.1.1 whose On/Off button didn't respond very well after 5 1/2 years, and became very slow at times. Reception quality for phone calls is perfect with the Cat in places where the old one struggled to maintain communication. It's also very nice to not have to wait several seconds when I start an app.
The dual SIM works well, you can associate a preferred SIM card with each contact after setting the preferred card for phone calls to "ask every time". The 2nd SIM takes the place of the SD card, so it's one or the other. After a few weeks of use and 41 apps installed I am at 26GB of use on 128, knowing that the system already occupies 21GB. This leaves a comfortable margin if you don't do streaming videos and if you know how to empty the WhatsApp cache.
The device comes with a screen protector installed, so there's no need to buy one right away, or to panic if the screen looks scratched.
The camera of an (old) Samsung S7 or a 200.- Nokia gives better pictures, especially as soon as the light is not optimal.
I would have liked to buy a Nokia XR20, but I'm not a big fan of 5G and the Cat's IR camera was the deciding factor. The software that uses it is well designed and compensates for the low resolution of the IR sensor (160x120 pixels) by superimposing the visible camera image on the IR image. One can take a picture taken in IR and still make adjustments and measurements on it afterwards.
    In short:
If the thermal camera is not a must, there are better and cheaper devices.
If the thermal camera is a must, then the Cat S62 pro is the smartphone with the best IR sensor at the end of 2021 and is very reasonably priced.

    Contra

    • Android 10
    • Visible camera of average quality
    • Heavy weight (250g)
