The printer does what it should: print, scan and copy. The print quality is absolutely sufficient for home use. It is worth investing in 90g/m2 paper.
After about 100 pages of colour printing, the yellow cartridge was 2/3 empty, the other colours 1/3 empty and black about 40% used. (The pages are printed quite densely - under normal conditions I would consider about 50% more output with the same consumption as realistic).
The noise level during printing is borderline. Especially the paper feed sounds brutal. You wouldn't want to be a cogwheel.
Installation was not as easy as Brother's developers thought it would be. After the first test page was printed, an error message appeared on the display: paper jam. I spent the next 2 hours trying to clear the non-existent paper jam.
The decisive tip: with the machine switched off (pull the mains plug, because the printer cannot be switched off when an error message is in the display!) insert a thicker sheet of paper into the single feed at the back and then switch on the printer. The sheet of paper is then fed in. This then solved the paper jam, which did not exist. (There was probably dust or packaging waste on a sensor).
From then on, however, the installation was child's play. The printer can be connected directly to the WLAN via WPS (LAN not necessary). iOS and macOS recognise the device immediately, including the scanner driver. I didn't need to install the Brother software. Everything can be done natively with the OS software. The iOS app is handy if you want to scan from your iPhone (for whatever reason you want to do that). The apps and cloud functions directly from the printer seem gimmicky, but work perfectly.

Are you looking for a compact, fast printer that can print double-sided in colour? It should also scan and fax? It should also be quiet and visually appealing? Voila, here is your new companion. The touch display can be tilted and the paper cassette holds enough sheets. Of course, it would be nice if there was room for more paper and the web interface had more settings. I can only recommend this device

I am very happy with this recently purchased printer. I haven't had many but this is definitely the best one I have had.
