For a long time I was skeptical whether software synthesizers can really replace hardware completely. Beforehand - they can. What Arturia has put together here is simply ingenious. The Keylab 88MK2 is THE front end for the rest of the Arturia products. The operating concept is well thought out and even the lack of a touch panel (ala Korg Kronos or Yamaha MODX) does not matter, because the main interaction is anyway via the respective DAW or the software instruments directly. The workmanship of the Keylab 88MK2 is very good, it clearly benefits from the very playable Fatar keyboard, which is as good as a real piano. Only the 9 faders seem a bit wobbly. It's a pity that metal wasn't used here, as with the pitch bend and modulation wheel. Otherwise, the part is built like a castle, nothing wobbles, nothing creaks - I would rate it as unrestricted tour suitability.
