It works... but needs a little practice and is sometimes very awkward. Theoretically, the pen works like a keyboard. I've used it for that too... it has a little trouble with the reference number.

Yes, the IRISPen basically works with every Windows programme. It inserts the characters read into the active programme.

Do not know version 6. The cable is stiffer than a mobile phone cable. The user in our family thinks that if you take it around the laptop, it works. I myself also think that a mouse cable is much more flexible. The pen cable still has bends in it from being folded up in the original box. Hope this information helps a little.

The IRISPen Executive 7 works with any application. All you have to do is place the cursor in the desired field. Then scan and the scanned letters or numbers will be displayed in the field.
According to the manufacturer, this pen is only compatible with Windows.
