My Huawei E5885 has mainly been connected to the mains for a year. When it is not (i.e. power failure or on the move), the battery lasts about 1 day. I can also confirm that the network quality has an influence on the battery consumption. I have 2 providers (device is not dual-sim). The battery runs out faster with Sunrise/Yallo/Digitec IoT than with Swisscom/M-Budget/Wingo. For operation with Huawei E5885, I recommend the current cheapest Wingo offer. With the Swisscom network, you are much better off in the sticks. I would also like to mention that the data offers on the Sunrise network are useless. The flat rate is true. But nobody writes that the bandwidth is massively throttled after about 1Gb. After the Gb, you will be faster at peak times with a 56k modem. The Huawei E5885 is certainly one of the best mobile WiFis available with a LAN port.

...certainly a negative point: there is no way to completely deactivate the WLAN. Even if only USB or LAN are used for Internet access, the WLAN is active. Source: https://maxwireless.de/2017/test-huawei-e5885-mobile-wifi-pro2/

Hello anonymous, perhaps your SIM card or mobile phone contract no longer brings you anything. There are enough offers for LTE with 21.6 MBit... So it may not be the Huawei's fault. Its specifications give the following information for LTE: LTE FDD Cat.6 data service of up to 300Mbit/s (DL) /50Mbit/s (UL) LTE FDD Cat.4 data service of up to 150Mbit/s (DL) /50Mbit/s (UL) LTE TDD Cat.6 data service of up to 224Mbit/s (DL) /20Mbit/s (UL) LTE TDD Cat.4 data service of up to 112Mbit/s (DL) /20Mbit/s (UL) This is what it says in the product description from Huawei.

The device connects to the internet via WLAN, LAN or SIM card and then sets up its own WLAN to which other devices can connect. So it should work that the device uses the hotspot of the smartphone, but it probably won't work that other devices then connect via LAN - but I haven't tried that yet.

So for one device, yes. There's only one Ethernet port. If one is on wifi and the other on Ethernet, this should work fine. The router administration options are somewhat limited but should work for your use case. :) We have ours plugged in to power 24/7 and acting as a 4g modem for a standard router.

Not all frequency bands are supported worldwide. In the USA, however, some providers should work, AT&T and T-Mobile are mentioned for 4G LTE. The device supports the following: 800 MHz , 850 MHz , 900 MHz , 1800 MHz , 1900 MHz , 2100 MHz , 2300 MHz , 2600 MHz and here are the matching providers in the US for 3G and 4G: https://www.signalbooster.com/pages/what-are-the-cellular-frequencies-of-cell-phone-carriers-in-usa-canada What this doesn't quite clarify is where (regionally) these providers transmit in what frequency, so despite compatibility you may not have coverage in a working frequency everywhere (because AT&T, for example, also operates in frequencies that the device does not support).

Since I can't delete the question, I'll answer it myself: MultiSIM is apparently just using the "adapters" if you want to use a nano-SIM. This is a bit misleading, as in many places "MultiSIM" also means "DualSIM".

The device should be compatible with all standard sim cards. It is a Micro SIM slot. I bought this device because it is a global device which means you will be able to use it on bands in the USA, Asia, Europe etc. It also has a huge battery 6400mAh and it is probably one of the few devices with such a big battery and long running time. Have not tested the running time exactly but I can tell you that it is very long and you can even charge your phone off of it. Another thing rare thing on this device is the RJ-45 connector. If you do not need a global device or the big battery I would then go with the Netgear Nighthawk M1.
