Yes. Open document > select Print file > (new window) Find and select layout > select Pages per sheet:2 (or more) > then print. It should work.
This HP Laserjet 428fdw has been with me for 7 months and runs flawlessly. I am very satisfied with it. I am not aware of the above problem. I would call HP support on 022 567 51 84.
I use the printer with MacOS Mojave, Catalina and BigSur but without HP drivers. Printing and scanning works fine only with MacO's own printer tools. I do not use the fax function.

Yes, a printer cartridge is supplied and installed. Not the one with the largest capacity, but you can start right away.
It does not print colors, its only black and white.
The difference lies in the functions of the printer, which you can recognise by the letters: d: Duplex printing f: FAX w: WLAN n: Network Greetings Mike
While it can print duplex in black and white, it will scan (but only one side of a page) in color.
