The self-propelled anti-tank gun Panzerjäger I was used by the German Wehrmacht starting in 1941 during the invasion of France, in North Africa, and in the early stages of Operation Barbarossa. The chassis was based on the hull of the light tank model I. The tank destroyer was armed with the Czechoslovak 4.7 cm anti-tank gun (PaK). It had a good supply of ammunition with over 70 rounds. However, during the course of the war, the Panzerjäger I was replaced by heavier armored tank destroyers with greater firepower, as the 4.7 cm gun proved ineffective against newer and better-armored enemy tanks.
