I wanted a fan that was powerful enough to be able to deal with temperatures in August, while quiet enough to have on when I sleep. This fan definitely delivers.
However, it is worth noting that you only get those on two separate modes. The sleep mode is so quiet that I cannot hear the fan itself; when I hear anything it is either the airflow going past my ears, or sometimes a very quiet mains hum from the motor. And neither of those would be audible if I didn't have the fan about a meter from my pillow.
The fan also has 3 more powerful settings that are essentially what you would expect from a normal fan, but they also produce as much noise as a normal fan. The most powerful setting is more than enough to produce an uncomfortable amount of airflow at short distance.
The fan comes in a a fairly compact package and must be assembled. However, it is intuitive enough that I was able to assemble it correctly without looking at the instructions. The base is fairly heavy and the fan cannot be easily tipped over. Construction looks fairly solid, however the link between the main vertical arm and the base seems to be flexible enough that the fan will wobble for a few seconds if you bump into it.
