Xiaomi Mi Induction Heating Rice Cooker
Xiaomi Mi Induction Heating Rice Cooker
High quality (also costs 200) and looks great, and ...cooks rice without burning. BTW also works without app. Very useful I find the remaining time - in the app and on the device.
Previously we bought the "CHF49.90" rice cookers (already several) and were never happy. Either a mess, rice burnt or some mechanical defect on the device, because simply cheaply built.

Great rice cooker, no burning, no splashing when steam etc. We can recommend it.
The price on Galaxus is a cheek, bought in the Xiaomi shop in Glattzentrum, without discount for 99.- incl. 5 years warranty!
Contrary to popular belief, the price for a rice cooker of this class is very favourable. In fact, it should be compared with the latest generation of high-end Japanese rice cookers, which are equipped with a real computer. The big difference with a simple rice cooker is that the software analyses the cooking of the rice to get the best result (yes, rice is an art in Asia, not just a side dish). What this model has more than a Japanese model is that it connects to wifi, which allows you to start cooking from a distance or to monitor the progress of the rice (or other recipes) with your smartphone. The Induction is of course also great for energy saving, speed and reliability of cooking.
I bought it a few months ago and since then I've been using it a lot to cook premium Japanese rice (it also goes with the rest of the rice), soups, porridge (programmed at night for the morning), steamed vegetables and flavoured rice.
Basically, you can make anything with it, even bread and cakes, or simmer. The only problem is that the machine is not very intuitive for a European, so you need to understand a bit about Asian cookers to get into complicated stews.
The basic program for rice lasts one hour. This may sound like a long time, but you should know that this is exactly the ideal time for the ancient and traditional method of cooking Japanese round rice in clay pots. The rice rests in warm water before the temperature is slowly raised. The pure cooking lasts only 15', and then the rice is left for a while to absorb all the water. This is how the "pearl" is obtained, with a smooth, shiny rice and each grain clearly separated from the others.
A beautiful object, both for lovers of high quality rice and for the student who wants to save space in the kitchen, the lover of all-in-one recipes and the inveterate simmerer.

A great device that I initially heard about from Galaxus. I am glad that I bought the appliance. You couldn't make such tasty rice with normal cooking. There are many other cooking options besides rice. You just have to try them out. Unfortunately, the options are not described in enough detail in the operating instructions.

I have been using it for almost a year even more than 3 times a week to cook rice but also other cereals (couscous, quinoa, spelt...) and pulses such as lentils and steamed vegetables (everything). I am very happy with the product. I would have liked the steaming basket to have been made of stainless steel or silicone and not plastic, as it is made that after a year it looks almost dirty as the plastic has absorbed the colour of the food. I wish the app had more pre-set cooking times for other foods, not just white rice, as the product can cook so many things. Instead I had to go by intuition, and trying it out over time (by trial and error) I learnt how to use it well to cook food al dente.
